Easy Two Wild Birthday Theme
Who says a girl can’t have a safari themed birthday party? Because they so can! With my daughter’s third birthday next week, I’ve been going down memory lane of last year’s Two Wild birthday theme and thought I’d share the details in case you are in need of a super cute second birthday party theme idea.
My take on putting my kid’s birthday parties together is this…I want it to be stylish, easy to pull off, but also not break the bank. This theme was all of that. I used several things we had already for part of the decor – like stuffed animals and some indoor plants – and then filled in from there. Simple, but also cute!
The Invite
I created the invite using Canva. Canva is great for creating all kinds of things – graphics, invitations, flyers, posters, etc. If you don’t have an account already, you can create one for free and be able to access tons of free templates, designs, and elements to add to your design.
I created this one from scratch based off of inspiration I found on Pinterest, but that’s just me. Use a template and plug in your information and/or pictures for a quick and easy way to create something or do one from scratch. Once done, you can save your creation as a .jpeg, .png, PDF, or other file based on what you need if you plan to send electronically or print them.
I did not print these. Since I was mainly sending to family and close friends, I saved to my phone and texted the image out to those we were inviting. In the future as my daughter wants to invite classmates, I’ll print some for that and probably still send an electronic copy to family and close friends.
The Outfit
I found a super cute Two Wild bodysuit from LilyandMaxCo on Etsy. It has over 14,000 reviews and was great quality and so cute! I paired the body suit with leopard bell bottoms from Amazon.
The Cake
I decided to make the cake for the party. I searched Pinterest for ideas and found a ideas from a couple pictures that I thought would be very easy to do. This was my first time making a cake like this, so I wanted to make sure I was not trying to do too much for my first time and be confident that I could execute it. I think it came out great!
I kept the flavor and details fairly simple, but it was all it needed! It was an almond cake with vanilla buttercream. I know some people are not crazy about almond flavor (I love it!), so I kept the almond flavor minimal and I think the vanilla from the buttercream also helped cut the almond flavor that it was not overpowering. The cake, buttercream recipe, and all the cake and icing tips came from Cake by Courtney. I love following her on Instagram and she has a great blog with different cake recipes and a YouTube channel with tips and tricks for making and decorating cakes. It was so helpful and the cake was delicious!
The boulders were Ferrero Rocher chocolates I cut in half and just pressed to the cake on top of one another. The “greenery” is Rosemary and Thyme that I placed sporadically on the sides coming out of the “boulders” and on top of the cake. For the top, I found miniature animal figures and a “Happy Birthday” banner.
The Details
Table Decor – I mostly used things I had like a plant, a sign, and smaller stuffed animals. My Mother-in-law had a larger tiger, monkey and gorilla that were perfect for the theme. I then used a green plastic table cloth that you can find at a dollar store or party store. Above the table, I hung some dark and light green streamers and a small “2” balloon from our dining light.
Safari Theme Dinnerware and Supplies – I found a cute safari theme set of 144 pieces on Amazon. The set includes plates, napkins, utensils, and cups. The quality of everything was really nice. The plates were not flimsy at all.
Jungle Theme Backdrop – The quality of this backdrop is great and it is so pretty in person! I highly recommend. It was really cute to have with a balloon arch above for pictures and to just fill some wall space outside.
Balloon Arch – this was the first time I had done one of these and it was not hard at all. The hardest part was getting it to hang on the wall, but we figured out a way to make it work with a bunch of tape. This arch had a ton of balloons to make it nice and full. I will say that we had several pop on their own before we got it put together. We even had a couple pop in the middle of the night with no one around. haha
If you do a balloon arch, be sure and get a hand pump to help with blowing up the balloons. There are electric ones, too, but a hand one was fine for us.
There you have it! A simple and easy Two Wild Birthday theme. Let me know if you have done this before or are planning this for your next little one’s birthday!
